Before I headed out on my Great Expedition to Colonia and beyond (I’ll be uploading the logs later on), I bought myself a Python and did a bit of mining. Here are some of the highlight from that escapade – it was actually kinda fun, though not exactly a huge money-maker for me.
I got enough money to afford a Python! So I kitted it out for mining and painted it red in honour of a certain large red mining ship… Behold, the Maroon Minnow!

I love the busy little collector limpet drones! Previously when I tried mining in the Cobra, I had to shoot the asteroid and manually scoop up the minerals – but these little guys just zip out and grab the bits for you! That makes life a whole lot easier!

Heading off with about 100t of Gold, Osmium, Samarium, Prasaeodymium and some minerals. I’d love to say this ended well but unfortunately I got ambushed by an NPC pirate in the next ring system I went to and was destroyed 🙁 . 2016’s last kick in the teeth, I guess. Fortunately I had just enough for a rebuy but it took the wind out of my sails for a bit.
A month later (after my NGC 7822/Pleiades expedition) I decided to give mining another go. So I headed out to 20 Arietis again and steered clear of the pirates! This is the metallic ring there.
And this is the ice ring at HIP 13644. Both systems are near Diaguandri and are Pristine ring systems.

Stopping off at Di Yi I found what seemed to be a wreck attached to the Forbes Dock outpost there!
This is the middle of a Ring Gap at HIP 13644. It was a bit odd as the inner ring had stuff whizzing around at really high relative velocity compared to the more normal icy ring that I dropped in at!
I found some Low Temperature Diamonds in the icy ring! Jackpot! 🙂
